Snow-dusted greenery and bright red berries are a lovely combination for a traditional Christmas room. This Shavingfun garland adds pine cones and small warm white lights to that familiar palette, giving you a decorated length for a mantelpiece, staircase or sheltered entrance. The red details bring colour, while the snowy touches stop the green foliage from becoming too dark and uniform.

It measures 270cm, approximately nine feet, and has 200 PVC branch tips. Thirty LED lights are arranged through the foliage and run on three AA batteries, which are not included. At about 990g, the garland has enough substance to make a feature, but still needs suitable fixing points if you want it to hang in swags or drop down from a shelf.

Shape the greenery around the berries

Start by loosening the main length on a clear surface. This is a wired garland, so it can take a little patience to open a tightly packed curve. Support the central structure as you work and avoid using the berry stems or light cable to pull it straight. Once it is open, spread the individual tips to bring the snowy branches and red clusters into view.

When decorating stairs, support the garland independently of its electrical wire and preserve a clear grip on the handrail. Along a mantel, keep the foliage well away from an active fireplace.

For outdoor use, choose a sheltered position and follow the supplied instructions for protecting the electrical parts. The garland can also sit along a table or windowsill where the red berries remain visible in daylight. Remove the batteries for storage and pack the dry greenery loosely, keeping the small berry stems from being crushed beneath heavier Christmas decorations.
