A red poinsettia gives this five-piece set its bright centre, while snowy foliage, berries and pinecones add the smaller details around it. The mix brings together the familiar red, green and white of Christmas without making every stem look the same. Use the pieces together for a full seasonal vase, or separate them when you want to carry a little of the same look through several decorations.

The set contains three five-branch pine sprays, one five-branch red poinsettia bunch and one frosted berry-and-mistletoe spray. The pine pieces are approximately 37cm tall, the poinsettia 35cm and the mistletoe spray 33cm. These are individual pieces for arranging; a vase or other container is not included.

Build a display with depth

Start with the three pine sprays, turning them so their different finishes can be seen from the front. Position the red poinsettia slightly off centre, then use the frosted spray to soften the edge. Varying the angles creates a more relaxed outline than placing all five stems upright at the same height.

A narrow-necked vase will gather the stems into a compact bunch, while a wider container gives you room to spread the foliage. If you use a broad bowl or planter, you may want a suitable dry floral support to hold your chosen positions. Check the height of the container against the stems before committing to the arrangement.

Carry the details beyond the table

The pieces can also be worked into a wreath, garland or other festive greenery. Red poinsettia flowers make an obvious focal point near a bow, while the mixed pine sprays help vary the texture around it. The frosted mistletoe piece is useful near a darker section where a little white will lift the whole display.

For a mantelpiece arrangement, let a pine spray reach a little further out to one side and keep the red flowers closer to the centre. On a hall console, gather the stems more upright so they can be enjoyed as you enter. These are decorating suggestions for the supplied pieces; surrounding ornaments, lights and containers are separate.

A display you can rearrange

Fabric, plastic and wire form the flowers and foliage. There is no watering or pruning to work around, so you can prepare the arrangement before the busy part of December and adjust it whenever you change the room. Gently open out any compressed branches after unpacking, supporting each stem as you shape it.

The set is suitable for indoor and outdoor decorative use. For an exposed position, secure the stems in an appropriate container rather than leaving them loose. Store the pieces dry and without heavy decorations pressing on them, ready for another vase, wreath or garland next Christmas.
