Description

A taller plant can change the balance of a room, drawing the eye upwards and softening the space above low furniture. This HZXGCP artificial palm stands approximately 183cm high, with long, fine fronds that reach out from a cluster of upright stems. Its scale makes it a good candidate for an empty living-room corner, an entrance or a workspace with a little extra floor space.

Soft foliage rather than a rigid outline

The leaves have a fabric finish and a feather-like shape, with rows of narrow green leaflets along each frond. Fifteen stems create the framework of this six-foot version. Internal wires allow the branches to bend, so you can change the way the canopy opens and give individual leaves a more relaxed curve.

Start with the upper fronds and work downwards, keeping some taller and allowing others to lean out. The result does not need to be perfectly even. A slight difference between the two sides often looks more natural, particularly when the palm is viewed against a plain wall. Its final height and width will depend on how much you bend the foliage.

Allow time for the finishing touches

Some assembly is needed after unpacking. Lay out the pieces and check that the foliage is complete before fitting everything together. One owner of this size praised the fabric-like leaves but reported missing fronds, so a quick check before shaping is sensible. The potted base has a cement-filled interior to add weight. The white pot gives the lower part of the display a clean finish, although it is much smaller than the spread of the leaves. Make room for the canopy

This palm is useful where you want height without adding another cupboard or shelving unit. Place it slightly forward from a wall so the rear leaves are not flattened, and leave enough space around a nearby chair or doorway. The airy foliage pairs nicely with warm wood, linen and other simple textures.

It requires no watering, feeding or sunlight to maintain its appearance. Wipe the leaves gently when dusty and keep it away from strong heat. Indoor display is the easiest option; any outdoor styling should be in a sheltered position with the base secured. Other heights are available, but this version contains one approximately 183cm palm.
