Sometimes the pot is already perfect; it is the plant inside that needs replacing. This pair of artificial string-of-pearls stems lets you keep a favourite container and add a fresh, trailing shape. The small rounded leaves gather into layered green strands, creating the familiar hanging succulent look without the careful watering and bright position a living plant would need.

The larger trailing option

This is the selected 22-inch size, approximately 55cm long. It offers a generous drop for a shelf or wall planter while remaining manageable in a smaller room. A shorter option is also available if you are working with less space, but the larger pair is the version described here.

Both pieces are supplied unpotted. Their stem bases can be secured in an existing container, letting you choose the colour, shape and finish of the planter. The green trails have different lengths, so they form a layered cascade rather than ending in one straight line.

Arrange them around the rim

Try placing the two stems at slightly different points near the front of your pot. Let the longest strands hang freely and use the shorter ones to fill the top. If your container is particularly small, one stem may be enough; the second can go into a separate display rather than being squeezed into the first.

A little shaping, then occasional dusting

Open the foliage carefully after unpacking and let the strands relax before making final adjustments. Fix the stems securely in your chosen pot, checking that the hanging weight does not make it unstable. Keep the leaves fresh-looking with a soft brush or gentle wipe, and lift the arrangement by its base rather than by the delicate trails. No watering, feeding or regular pruning is required.
