Autumn artificial hydrangea arrangement in a rustic wooden box (29cm)

Description

This low, generous display brings the colours of autumn to a table without needing a tall vase. Ivory hydrangea flowers sit alongside burnt orange and deep wine tones, with berries and dark green foliage filling the spaces between them. The result is warm and full, with several different colours to pick up in your other decorations.

The flowers are held in a rustic wooden box with a weathered appearance and a “Give thanks” motif. Its long shape is particularly useful on a mantelpiece, a narrow console or the centre of a rectangular dining table.

A low centrepiece with plenty of colour

The wooden container measures approximately 29cm long and 9.5cm deep, and the complete arrangement is around 21cm high. Those proportions give it a broad presence without the height of a large floral vase. Allow a little extra space around the flowers, which extend beyond the edges of the box.

It looks especially comfortable with natural wood, terracotta, copper-coloured accessories and cream table linen. For an autumn meal, place it on a simple runner and leave the rest of the table relatively clear. The flowers already supply a varied palette, so a few plain accessories can be more effective than a second busy pattern.

Ready-made flowers in a wooden base

The hydrangea heads have fabric petals, while flexible plastic stems and foliage help create a layered outline. Small berry clusters add a different texture between the broad blooms. The flowers are fixed in the container, so this is a finished arrangement rather than a box of loose stems to assemble.

After unpacking, gently separate any petals that have been pressed together and ease the outer leaves into position. Work with the existing shape instead of pulling the flowers out of the base. There are no lights to switch on and no separate vase or floral foam to buy.

Bring it out when the season turns

The richer flower colours make this a natural choice for September through to late autumn. It can provide a welcoming detail in a hallway, sit beneath a mirror or become the starting point for a harvest-themed sideboard. A small pumpkin or a bowl of seasonal fruit nearby will echo the colours without hiding the flowers.

This particular design is most effective when you can see the front of the wooden box, so position it with the lettering facing into the room. Keep it indoors, away from splashes, and brush dust gently from the petals and berries. When you change your decorations, store the arrangement upright with enough space above the flowers to protect their shape. It is a piece you can return to whenever you want that cosy autumn feeling again.
