A little greenery for the windowsill

Some spaces need only a small touch of green. This Dahey eucalyptus display brings rounded leaves and a softly textured finish to a narrow windowsill, bathroom ledge or kitchen shelf, without taking over the surface. The white metal trough has a ribbed finish and a simple twine bow, giving it a relaxed, slightly rustic character that works particularly well with pale wood and painted furniture.

This is a compact indoor planter rather than a large outdoor window box. At approximately 18cm long, it can sit comfortably among everyday objects: a soap dispenser beside the basin, a small stack of recipe books, or a favourite photograph. Three plants to arrange in their base

The set includes three artificial eucalyptus plants, the metal container and a foam insert. Push the stems into the foam and spread the branches until the leaves fill the outline of the trough. Give the leaves a little attention after unpacking, as they may be pressed together in transit. Work gently from the centre outwards, separating overlapping pieces rather than pulling at the leaf tips. The flocked surface lends the greenery a muted appearance, so gentle dusting is a better everyday approach than vigorous rubbing.

Small enough for useful corners

The planter itself is about 10cm high, with the foliage rising above it. Check the clearance below a window handle or shelf before settling on a position. Its modest length makes it a useful choice for a little recess where a larger arrangement would feel crowded, and you can turn the bow towards the main viewing angle.

Try it against a darker wall to make the pale container stand out, or place it beside a cream ceramic accessory for a quieter combination. It also works as a small table accent when you want to leave plenty of room for mugs, plates or a laptop. No separate decorative pot is needed.

An owner of the white version particularly liked it on a windowsill and found the assembly straightforward. That is a good guide to its appeal: a small, ready-coordinated collection of greenery that needs only a few minutes of arranging. It does not depend on a sunny position, so an interior shelf can work just as well as a window.

Keep the metal trough indoors and wipe the container carefully when needed. There is no soil to spill, no watering routine and no spent leaves to replace. The result is a simple decorative accent you can move from room to room when you fancy a change.
