Grey pine pencil Christmas tree (4ft)

Description

A small tree with a different colour

Grey foliage gives this little Christmas tree a softer, more unusual starting point than the familiar deep green. The slender pine shape is easy to work into a smaller room, and at 4ft tall it can also sit on a suitably sturdy table if you want the decorations closer to eye level. It is a useful size for adding Christmas to a bedroom, dining corner or compact living space.

The grey colour does not have to mean a completely silver decorating scheme. Red bows can look wonderfully bright against it, while warm lights and pale ornaments would make the same tree feel quieter. It is supplied unlit, so the final colour and glow remain entirely your choice.

A narrow outline to open out

The artificial plastic branches need spreading after the tree is taken from its box. Position the tips around the central stem to create a balanced outline and give the lower branches enough room. There is no need to rush this part: a few small adjustments can make a compact tree look much more considered.

Owners of the 4ft version have liked its easy assembly and suitability for small spaces. One buyer chose it specifically for a tabletop display and was pleased with the density once the branches were opened. Another found the grey colour subtle after decorating, which is encouraging if you like the idea of something different without a dramatic change.

Try a few favourite decorations

A smaller tree is a good opportunity to choose a handful of pieces you particularly enjoy rather than using everything in the Christmas box. Small baubles, miniature stars and ribbon bows suit the narrow branches. Place them at slightly different depths so the display has interest from close up as well as from the doorway.

If you add lights, test them before wrapping them around the tree and keep the cable clear of the stand. Warm white would soften the grey nicely; clear or cool-white lights could create a more frosty impression. Any lights, ornaments and decorative base cover are separate from the tree itself.

An easy size to place and store

The included stand supports the tree for display. Assemble it securely on a flat surface, then check the balance before adding decorations. If you put it on a table, make sure the whole stand sits comfortably on the surface with enough room to prevent it being knocked at the edge.

Its approximate 120cm height should still be measured against any shelf or picture above the intended position, with extra allowance for a topper. Other heights are available in this grey pine design. The tree is supplied boxed with a carry handle, useful when it is time to pack it away. Remove decorations and fold the branches carefully before storing the tree somewhere dry for another Christmas.
