Description

Greenery does not always have to be mostly green. This Oairse artificial tradescantia has striped leaves in pink, cream and green, giving it a softer, more colourful character than ordinary trailing ivy. The foliage spreads around a white pot and spills over the rim, creating a compact cascade that works well on a shelf or raised ledge.

Colour woven through the leaves

The narrow, pointed leaves carry contrasting stripes, with pink tones running through the overall arrangement. It is an appealing way to echo a blush cushion, a warm wall colour or a piece of artwork without adding flowers. The white pot provides a quiet base so the leaf pattern remains the main feature.

This is the selected pink version. Other foliage colours and container finishes are available separately. The plant is approximately 45cm overall, with a pot around 13.5cm across and 12.5cm high. Its effect comes from the foliage spreading and falling around the container, rather than a long single vine.

Give the trailing shape a place to show

A dresser, bookcase or bathroom shelf can provide enough height for the leaves to spill naturally over the edge. It can also sit in a suitable plant hanger if you prefer to lift it off the furniture. Any hanger or additional decorative cover is separate from the supplied plant and pot.

Try the arrangement against both a light and a darker background if you have a choice. Pale surroundings bring out the pink, while a dark wall makes the cream stripes more noticeable. A little empty space beneath the pot helps prevent the patterned foliage from looking busy or crowded.

A fuller little accent

Customers who selected the pink plant have described it as bushy and liked the colours. One found it useful for brightening a corner where a living plant would not thrive. The combination of upright leaves near the centre and lower trailing branches gives it more depth than a completely flat curtain of foliage.

Gently separate any leaves that have become pressed together during transport, supporting their stems as you work. Aim for a few different angles rather than arranging every leaf to face directly forwards. The patterned surfaces will then catch the light in a more varied way.

Enjoy the colour with little upkeep

The artificial foliage and white plastic pot are easy to move when you change a display. No watering or plant food is needed. Dust the leaves carefully to keep the pale stripes clear, and wipe the pot when necessary. For an outdoor accent, choose a sheltered spot where the container stays steady and the foliage is protected from repeated buffeting.
