Description
Two neat white rosebud buttonholes
These WVRLY buttonholes use a white rosebud as the central flower, giving them a slimmer, more upright appearance than an open-rose corsage. Pale filler details, green leaves and a loop of sparkling trim frame the bud, while the stems are wrapped in white. Two matching pieces are supplied for a coordinated pair of wedding outfits.
Each buttonhole measures approximately 12cm high and 7cm wide. The rosebud shape has a tidy, traditional character that can suit a groom and attendant, two family members or special guests. The white colour is easy to combine with many suit shades and can sit alongside either neutral or more colourful bridal flowers.
A small amount of sparkle
The decorative trim adds a bright detail around the rose without changing the overall white-and-green palette. It is noticeable close up, especially in photographs of the lapel, but the flower remains the main feature. You could connect the sparkle to a small piece of jewellery elsewhere in the wedding party without making every accessory highly decorated.
The narrower bud shape also gives a useful contrast if the bridal bouquet contains fuller roses. Matching the flower type can create a connection even when the arrangements are different sizes and shapes. These buttonholes are finished pieces rather than loose buds, so the wrapped stems and surrounding details are already in place.
Fit them with the jackets on
The flowers attach with pins. Position each buttonhole while the wearer has the jacket on, and ask someone else to check that the bud points neatly upwards. Keep the decorative loop visible beside the flower rather than trapped behind the lapel. Secure the pin so its point is covered and the arrangement does not swing when the wearer moves.
A customer found the flowers a good match for the bridesmaid bouquets used at a wedding. That is a useful way to think about these small pieces: they can repeat one element from the larger flowers rather than trying to include every colour or variety in a tiny arrangement.
Prepare the pair ahead of time
Take both buttonholes out together and gently release any filler sprays pressed against the rosebuds. Check the pins and return the pieces to their box with enough room around the trim. If the flowers are intended for people getting ready separately, label the box or divide the pair into individual protective containers. The artificial materials mean there is no watering to organise on the morning of the ceremony. Once the wedding is over, remove the pins carefully and store the buttonholes dry, keeping the slim rosebud shapes upright and free from pressure.
